The best thing about the moving process is getting a chance to really go through the things you have and hopefully prune the unnecessary items. For me, this meant getting rid of a few things that had sat in my closet since the last time I moved. But one of the unexpected casualties of the move was my desk.
It had a time and place, and that time and place ended during this move. It was a custom made desk. I built it my sophmore year of college, using pieces of an old desk and some hardware bought at San Lorenzo Lumber.
The desk served me well those 4 years, but its time had come. One of the sides was cracking, the rollers were seizing up, not to mention it had slowly become an eyesore. One swift kick to the side is all it took.
You served me well old desk. Many late nights we had writing papers and surfing the net. I can only hope my new desk has as much character as you.
I am ushering in a new phase of my life with this move. My connection to my college days slowly begin to fade. Not only did I do away with my desk, I also did away with the bunk bed. I figured it was about time for me to sleep in a real bed.
I hope my next move is for good.
