It starts out on a low note. Even though one of my best friends told me reminded me Friday night that it was their birthday Saturday, I still managed to forget. I am a terrible friends. It was Ryan Grable's 24th Birthday. He even called me Saturday afternoon to come over to his parents house for dinner, and I denied him, not even realizing that it was his Birthday.
It wasn't until we met up later that night that he reminded me again and I went into party planning mode to make things right. I got on the phone and got a few friends over for a little fun. What followed was the emptying out of my closet for a fashion show with the latest from my wardrobe.
A little guitar her followed, as this is Ryan's favorite thing to do, especially when we are having a lively group discussion and he wants to totally kill the fellowship. But it was his Birthday.
Hopefully I made up for forgetting his birthday.
Sunday afternoon, Ryan and I made our way out to Big Basin Start Park in the Santa Cruz Mountains for a little camping. We were going to meet up with the Van Pykren Family, as well as a couple of other families. These are some awesome families who I have had the opportunity to get to know here in the area and have become like an extended family to me.
We didn't do much planning for this. We got there after dark, and spent about an hour looking for their campsite. Big Basin is pretty large, as I now know. Through some miracle, we found their campsites. We had some dinner, talked around the fire, and then went to bed. It was really cold, so I didn't do much sleeping.
We woke up the next morning, had a little breakfast, and we all went for a hike.
