I was at a BBQ and some people were playing horseshoes. I have never really played horseshoes, but I thought I would join in.
My partner and I proceeded to win 4 games in a row. Although I had no idea what I was doing, it sure did look like I was a seasoned horseshoe veteran.
We put some money on the last game. With the big bucks on the line, we got close to choking. The score was 20-21. We were down one. You play to 21, but you have to win by 2. My opponent tossed his two horseshoes and managed to get them both very close. It could potentially be enough for 2 points, and the victory.
I had two opportunities to put one of my horseshoes closer. My first toss was horrible, but a lucky bounce put it close enough to take away one of their points, but that wasn't enough. All they needed was one point. I had one more toss to change that.
I threw my last horseshoe and it knocked my opponents two horseshoes away and left my horseshoes close enough for two points. We went up by one point. 22-21.
It was my partners turn to try to seal the deal. He was automatic. His first toss was a ringer. 3 Points. Game over.
We won 5 bucks each. 5 Bucks never felt so good. We retired for the night as the unbeatable dynasty.
I'll rate this talent up there with my ping pong skills. The only thing it is really good for is maybe hustling a couple bucks at BBQ's. Maybe one day I'll discover a useful talent.
