I am a YoungLife Leader at San Lorenzo Valley High School here in the Santa Cruz Mountains. I had the opportunity tonight to share with the highschoolers a couple of things that are near and dear to my heart: Jesus and Guitar Hero.
Some of you may be wondering what I am talking about. Let me explain it to you. We have weekly "clubs" where we play games, sing songs, and then share a little.
It was my turn to talk this week, and the topic was "Need". Specifically, I was to talk about why we need Jesus. How does Guitar Hero fit into this? The Guitar Controller is useless unless it is plugged into the game console. The Guitar Needs the console, and similarly, we need Jesus. We are like a unplugged Guitar Hero controller outside of relationship with Jesus.
Pretty interesting? Well it made sense in my mind. If a highschooler connected with the concept tonight, than it was worthwhile. Thats all I can really hope for.
I'll have to keep track of all my club talks on my blog. That way four years from now, when we have a totally new group of kids, I can break the Guitar Hero talk out again!
