I have many inspirations for this Blog. You can see some of those linked in my favorite link sections. I have a new favorite to add to the list after today.
Through my work, I am a member of the Petroleum Equipment Institute (PEI for short) as a "Young Executive". I know, it sounds important, and it is! Among the many benefits of being a member, I get a periodic newsletter with some interesting information/facts/stories related to my field of work.
I got one of those emails today, and in it was an article about change. The article itself wasn't that great, but there was a link to the authors blog. I cruised over and checked it out, and immediately I was inspired.
What we have here is a blog about label printing. If you would have told me to check out a blog about label printing, I would have told you to go fly a kite. But I went and checked it out, and immediately I was hooked.
I immediately felt like I have been short changing my audience here on the blog. I have managed to write quite a few posts on many different parts of my life, but I have neglected to post really anything about my work, arguably one of the biggest parts of my life (at least time wise).
My excuse for this was largely based on my assumption that nobody wanted to read about what I did for work cause that would be boring. Heck, there are days when even I get bored at work. But after today, it was all put into perspective. If this guy can make a blog about label printing fun, engaging, and interesting, it shouldn't be to hard for me to write a couple of interesting posts about what I do for work every so often.
In reality, my subject matter at work is pretty interesting. I work with and for some very interesting people. My customers could provide endless amounts of blog material. And the field itself, although pretty complex, is pretty dynamic and constantly changing.
So there you have it. Thanks Peter. Even though I don't know you, you are an inspiration for my Blog.

Ryan,
Thanks for the great comments and the links. I am glad to be an inspiration for you. I love label printing and writing our blog is one of the most enjoyable parts of my job. To me that is the key, you have to like what you do and enjoy writing about it.
Best of luck to you.
Regards, Peter Renton
id like to hear your thoughts on a blog about what goes through your head (perhaps even your heart) when you trash talk or get super competitive.. the label making was interesting..
