it is disturbing, the poor do not have enough time to become informed because they are working hard and then spending any extra time to hang w family so all they know is what they see on the news , which means they dont know much. and there is just awful stupidity and ignorance on both sides as demonstrated at mccain rallys a la the obama is an arab lady and the obama is a terrorist yells. its too bad everyone cannot become fully informed
Don't kid yourself Ryan, its no worse than the horrific crowds that are gathering at the Palin / McCain rallys chanting that Obama is a terrorist and a baby killer. There is dirt on both sides. I prefer someone who is a little ignorant over some one who is racist and hateful. There are ignorant white people out there too. Remember crazy lady in McCain's crowd who said Obama was an Arab.
Ryan, Am I missing something! both James and Jessie comments have nothing to say about the lack of knowledge that many of Obama's supporters have about his views, only that he is their Rock-star.
I do find the mass hysteria that many have in favor of Obama to be a bit disturbing, so much faith and hope in a man, in a man who clams to 'change the world'. I can only hope that after our elections that our system of government will 'slow things down' and that Obama's supporters, don't start blamming the rest of us when things don't turn out they way they want it to.
I tend to take the mid-ground on most things and I find some comfort when I find myself not walking to the same drumbeat as others.
its sad how misinformed the general population is. And while I do agree there are misinformed/ignorant people on both sides, but I also agree with Tom that Obama has the rockstar appeal. The media is largely Liberally biased, and no matter how much we would wish they would be fair, they're helping Obama. when I think of political elections I think back and draw an analogy to elementary school....a boy named Brandon was running for President. I learned a lot about elections then, in that people will make a lot of promises. I never did get better school lunches, and recess wasn't extended 30 more minuets.
Last time I checked the only responsibilities of the President were to nominate Judges to the supreme court, nominate Ambassadors, Deliver the state of the union, the power of the Veto, and to be commander in chief. To often we are led away from the duties and responsibilities surrounding the office in question. While other things definitely influence decisions, we need to focus on the duties and responsibilities of the office in question, then see who is better qualified.
My name is Ryan Lipert, and I live in Santa Cruz, CA. I was born and raised in South Orange County. I went to UC Santa Cruz for my undergraduate studies. I recieved my degree in Business Management and Economics, and I never left. I now call Santa Cruz my home. I have a wonderful job in San Jose, where I work for and with some amazing people, in a field I am learning to love. I am a volunteer leader for YoungLife, where I have a strong passion and calling to love and serve high schoolers. I am also a member of Christian Life Center and have developed a strong sense of community and fellowship with some amazing people.
